Q:

How long can I check out materials?

A:

Most materials check out for two weeks.

 

 

Q:

What if the library doesn’t have the book I’m looking for?

A:

PCPL belongs to the Michigan E-Library system and TLN network. If the material is available at any library in the system, it can be borrowed and shipped directly to PCPL.  Patrons can do this online themselves or call the library at 734-878-3888.

 

 

Q:

If I don’t live in Pinckney, can I still get a library card?

A:

Yes. Anyone can get a library card without charge at PCPL.

 

 

Q:

How many items can I checkout at one time?

A:

There is a limit of five materials per library card.

 

 

Q:

Are there computers for public internet access?

A:

Yes. There are computers accessible to the public. There are 2 Dell PC’s and 2 Mac’s. These machines are not filtered, so a parent or guardian must be present for anyone under the age of 18 years. Please check in at the desk when using them.

 

 

Q:

What word processing and desktop publishing programs are on the public computers?

A:

The public computers have Microsoft Word and Microsoft Publisher.

 

 

Q:

Is there a charge when I check out movies at the library?

A:

Yes. Movies that have a rental sticker on them have a $1.00 fee at check out.  The check out period for those items is 3 days. Other videos are available at the library with no fee charged at check out. These have a check out period of 2 weeks.

 

 

Q:

How old does a child have to be tp get their own library card?

A:

A child of any age can get their own card with parents consent.

 

 

Q:

Does the library offer story times for children?

A:

Yes. The library has many different story time programs for different age groups.  Check the “Children’s” programming tab on the web page for program descriptions.

 

 

Q:

Does the library run summer reading programs?

A:

Yes. PCPL runs summer reading programs for children of all ages, teens and adults. These programs usually start the end of June.

 

 

Q:

Does the library carry income tax forms?

A:

Yes. During tax season the library does carry some tax forms.  Any form not available at the library can be found online or in a book of reproducable forms supplied by the government. There is a charge of .10 per copy when forms are obtained from the book or online. After tax season, patrons can only obtain the forms online or from the reproducable book.

 

 

Q:

Does the library accept donations of books and other materials?

A:

Yes. The library does accept donated materials. The library does not accept old magaziines and Reader’s Digest Condensed Books. Please call the library at 734-878-3888 for more information.

 

 

Q:

Does the library have a used book sale?

A:

Yes.  The Friends of the PCPL have a used book sale.  The sale is held the first weekend of June.  Call the library at 734-878-3888 to volunteer.

 

 

Q:

Does the library circulate periodicals?

A:

Yes. The circulation period for magazines is 2 weeks. For a list of library subscriptions, visit the homepage and click on periodicals.

Does the library do tours?

A:

Yes. Any organization that would like to schedule a tour can call the library at 734-878-3888.
